Device certification examines what the device itself does in each of its settings with a focus on timing and output. We capture the pulse on an oscilloscope and measure its shape, timing, and slew rate. A device is usually tested with more than one accessory since the pairing is what really matters when providing therapeutic value to the body.
Accessory certification focuses the field the accessory outputs. We scan across its surface to obtain clear measurements where the accessory makes contact with the user. We then move further away from the accessory to see how deeply the field penetrates. The record shows the peak field, where the field is strongest, and how quickly it fades as you move away. An accessory is usually tested with more than one device because each device drives it differently.
