Lower-Bound Reading

Coverage & Falloff
A value shown with a greater-than sign, such as > 12 cm, meaning the true value is at least that large. The field hadn't yet fallen to the reporting edge at the farthest point the test engineer measured. The value is a floor, not an estimate. The accessory reaches at least that far and likely farther. It applies to distances such as Penetration Depth and Effective Field Diameter.

Also known as: Capped Reading

A reach reported as at least a given distanceField strength falling with distance from the surface. Measured readings are shown as dots and end while the field is still above the dashed reporting edge. The curve continues as a dashed, unmeasured line and crosses the edge farther out, so the reach is reported as greater than the last measured distance.Reporting edgeLast reading: reported as > 12 cmthe field is still above the edge heretrue reach, farther out (not measured)Distance from the surfaceField strengthIllustrative example.© 2026 Gauss Labs
When the readings end before the field falls to the reporting edge, the reach is reported with a greater-than sign. The accessory reaches at least that far and likely farther.
