Inherited Certification

Certification
A certification carried over to an item that wasn't tested itself, from a closely related item that was. Some products come in variants that don't differ in any way that changes the field. Retesting each one would add cost without adding information. Gauss Labs adds the inheritance to the certification only after comparing the two products confirms they match. The certification record names the item it came from and the reason the two are treated as equivalent.
